This project runs on people who show up — divers, surveyors, fishermen willing to talk, and anyone with photographs or field notes worth adding to the record.
Nesting season runs March through September. Nests are fenced only against monitor lizards, and eggs are left to incubate naturally wherever possible — help during nesting season, or a report of a nest found elsewhere in the region, is always useful.
Marine university students and visiting divers have long contributed grassroots survey data rather than leaving it to outside researchers. If you're diving Nikoi or, soon, Cempedak, and want to contribute photographs, sightings or survey notes to the Field Journal, get in touch.
